Listening to Stefano Gagliardo tell the story of the Gagliardo family wines, you feel as if you are in the vineyards, letting the soil fall through your hands, feeling the sun warm your skin and the misty rains wrap you in the sweet breath of the Piedmont plateau winds.

The Gagliardo GG Barolo JPGfamily are considered by experts in the field to be Nebbiolo specialists – they initiated the “Academy of Barolo,” a select group of Barolo producers committed to educating and building awareness of their products worldwide.  The Gagliardo family passion for the process and the product spills over into the community of producers and wine enthusiasts, and is very clearly evident in their highly rated wines.

Poderi Gianni Gagliardo are made up of many small plots distributed across different areas and with different soil compositions.  The management of the
vineyards aim to maximize respect for the plants and the soil. The wine from each parcel of land is vinified separately, and named after the vineyard in which the grapes were grown – with the exception of the Gianni Gagliardo Barolo.

The namesake wine, available in Vintages October 15th, is born from their vines in La Morra, with the addition of grapes from Monforte d’Alba, Barolo and Serralunga.  This combination of soils provides its subtle and expressive character even in youth, while maintaining ageing potential. It is the perfect answer to the question – drink now?  Drink Later?  Yes to both, pick up a few bottles.

At 94 points and “better than the 2010” according to James Suckling, you can’t go wrong!
